Mary Ann is a freelance writer and instructional designer working more than fifteen years for the pharmaceutical industry. She has broad experience in developing training and marketing programs in a variety of formats ranging from e-learning to highly interactive application-based workshops and train-the-trainer. The training materials she designs are practical, results-oriented and learner-centered.

Mary Ann’s expertise includes disease state training and product and skills training. She also develops training for reimbursement and selling in the managed care environment. Recently she developed programs to train pharmaceutical sales representatives on what specialty pharmacies do, how to sell in the institution (hospital selling), how to sell in a managed care environment, and how pull-through programs influence the prescribing behavior of physicians. She has also developed training materials to assist sales representatives to sell in open, closed, and restricted formularies; when prior authorization is required; and in a “tiered” co-pay system.


Therapeutic areas of expertise include oncology and hematology (breast, leukemia); analgesics, cardiovascular, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension; CNS (depression, epilepsy, bipolar mania, schizophrenia, multiple sclerosis, parkinson disease); rheumatology (biologic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug), infectious diseases and antiviral (antibiotics, HIV/AIDS), dermatology (eczema, psoriasis, acne), pulmonary (respiratory disorders), biotechnology products (erythropoietin, monoclonal antibody, alfa interferon, B-cell inhibitor).

 

Mary Ann holds a BS degree in Marketing from Seton Hall University and an MBA in pharmaceutical marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Prior to freelancing, she had more than 20 years experience working at Hoffmann-La Roche Inc. During her career at Roche, she served as sales representative (New Jersey), medical center representative (New York City), trainer (home office) and market research analyst (home office).
